Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data KnowYourScent (“we”) processes when you use knowyourscent.com, why, and your rights under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”). We are the Data Fiduciary for this data.

What we collect

• No accounts. You can use the site without signing up. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number.
• AI Assistant messages. When you use the AI Assistant, the text you type is sent to our servers and to our AI provider to produce an answer. Please do not type personal details into it.
• Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic request data such as IP address, browser type and time of visit, to keep the site running and secure.

We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell your data.

Why we use it

• To answer your questions in the AI Assistant.
• To run, secure and fix the website, and to prevent abuse.

Who we share it with

We use these service providers (Data Processors), who process data only for us:

• Vercel Inc. (website hosting)
• Anthropic PBC (AI Assistant answers)
• OpenStreetMap Foundation (the map on the Sellers page loads from their servers, which receive your IP address)

Some of these providers may process data outside India. We will share data with authorities only where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law. We do not store AI Assistant conversations in our own database.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:

• ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
• ask us to correct, complete, update or erase it;
• withdraw consent you have given, at any time;
• nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated;
• have your grievance addressed by us.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly process children’s personal data without verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian.

Grievances and contact

To use your rights or raise a complaint, email deep@knowyourscent.com. We will respond within the time the law requires. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change, for example when we add accounts, reviews or analytics, and will change the date at the top.
